2021 Lavender Harvest Festival
Open Dates & Times: June 7th - June 26th, from 10AM to 5PM Mon through Sat.
Frogholler Lavender Farm will be holding it's anual Lavender Harvest Festival once again this year. This is the biggest event on the farm for the whole year, where you can come out to harvest your own lavender right from the field during the extremely short harvest window. Most Lavender is only able to be harvested during a few weeks of the year, and this festival is always held during the peak harvest period.
If youre interested in harvesting your own fresh Lavender straight from the field you can come out during the festival and get started right away. The cost for the Lavender is only .10 cent a stem, thats right .10 cent. You don't need to bring anything with you to harvest, we will provide everything you need to do so: Pre-sanitized Scissors & Baskets, along with ties to bundle your lavender as you pick. ( you may bring your own tools if you desire to do so.) If youre new to the process we will also provide helpful tips when you get started, such as the proper cutting length, the optimal bundle size, and tips for drying and storing the lavender you picked once you get home.
Note: The lavender field, by the nature and requirements of lavender plants to flourish, is not shaded. We do have shaded areas here, but if you plan to pick your own lavender you may wish to bring a sun hat, and certainly some sun block. There will be pre picked bundles avaiable for purchase in the store. We will also be glad to go out and pick for you, while you shop and relax.
The greenhouse and plant tables will be fully open and stocked this year as well, with a variety of herbs, vegetables, flowers, and other decorative plants. Yes, we will have Lavender plants for sale, in abundance. This year we have also ordered a sizeable amount of new items, some of which came from seeds that were only just made available for liscensed farms to grow this year. This will include herbs and vegetables as well, so be on the look out for new plants to pick up.
Our store has been fully stocked as well with lavender goods, artisan crafts such as soaps, honey, essential oils & face creams, hand stitched quilts and hand bags, knicknacks, and a much more. The store will be open every day the farm is open, during the same hours. Expect wall to wall items, virtually everything hand crafted. Inside the store is where you will find our own Lavender Lemonade. Michael will be pouring cups all day, make sure to ask for your sample. You will be glad you did.
As per the last few years we will be holding several mini-events during the festival, including but definitely not limited to: Lavender Wand weaving class, Lavender Wreath weaving class, and drawings & prizes. Watch us on Facebook and our website for times and days of the classes. The classes will be limited and pre scheduled. Watermelon slices will be served randomly, free to those attending throughout each day.
There will be a free meal offered to the public on June 19th, all serving from around 11AM to close. The food on offer will be decided on when we get closer to that date, but expect a full meal with at least two courses. We will be following CDC guidelines for serving, sanitizing, and waste disposale.
Drinks will be on sale throughout the entire festival, from water to soda, all ice cold.
We have prepared picnic tables once again this year for everyone to partake in their own bagged lunches. These will be spaced apart from one another and placed in the shaded areas of the farm. Feel free to come out just for a picnic, bring your family and a pre-made meal, enjoy a quiet lunch outside under the shade trees and light summer breeze.
The professional farm photographer, Olivia Williams of Olivia Jewell Photography, will be on-site all day for the first two Saturdays during the festival. You and your family can have a professional, studio grade photo taken right here on the farm when you visit. Simply come out on one of the two Saturdays and approach Ms. Williams. As opposed to normal photography requirements an appointment is not needed during the festival to have a picture made of you and your loved ones. You can elect to have a printed photo made for you, or have them digitally sent you.
For our amature photographers we allow at no charge for you use a small handheld camera or phone to snap a picture at one of our several decorated picture spots, or out in the lushous purple fields.
As per previous years we will be offering a package you can pre-purchase which will include store discounts, free items from our store and/or greenhouse, a complementary 5X7 keepsake photograph of your family that will be taken here at one of our scenic photo areas of your choice, (photo is printed and mailed to you, not digital) and other such benefits. Once the package has been fully designed for this year we will post that along with all it's details, so be on the lookout for that.
Ample parking is available and the public is welcome to attend during the open dates, with no fee required to enter the farm.
Some things to take note of: Face masks are required when entering the store or the greenhouse. The field and walking area is sitting on four acres. There is ample room to keep a 6 foot distance, in fact you may have to wave from afar.
You may wish to prepare in advance by bringing with you bug spray and sun block.
If you plan to come in groups larger than ten persons please call ahead to let us know so we can have extra staff on hand to better serve you.
Pets are welcome on the farm at any time. Questions please call 704~223~0007
